Welcome! | Reply
Designers,

Welcome to "VA PseudoVet - Wireframe Componentes Challenge". I'm chekspir and I will be your copilot on this challenge.

We have a very interesting problem to explore on this challenge. Please read the requirements carefully and let me know if you have questions.

Good luck!

Is it possible for you to add a scenario? Who is the user / user group - some info about their profiles. Some examples of morbidity configuration/ diagnosis.

"We need to see intuitive and easy to use "wireframe concepts" that will let us design and build the final web user interfaces on the next stage of this project."

If this is in series to an earlier challlenge, then a link to the earlier challenge may also help. Thanks.

nPixel, here's the basic scenario of how this application will be used:

The user is a developer for an EHR (Electronic Health Records) system. As part of setting up a development or test environment, the developer needs realistic data. Since dev/test environments tend to be less secure, the developer is unable to use data from a production system. As such, our system will need to produce realistic, but fake data to allow the developer to import into their various environments.

As for the morbidity/diagnosis configurations, we expect that the developer will be using ICD-10 codes:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICD-10

A later requirement of the app will be that by selecting a war era, the list of diagnosis codes will be pre-populated based on known codes for that war era. For example, a veteran of a war in which gas was used, will probably suffer from lung and nervous system related issues. There are codes in the ICD-10 standard that deal with these and the system will pre-load the appropriate codes. The developer, however, may wish to add/delete codes to better configure the data for their specific purpose.

For the wireframes, we do not expect you to know the ICD-10 codes or their relationships to different war eras. We just want an area built to allow the configuration of these codes. For now, you can just use some commonly known names and best guess at related issues.

Hope this helps!

Hi, I have a question:

What do you mean when you say:
A later requirement of the app will be that by selecting a war era, the list of diagnosis codes will be pre-populated based on known codes

You say "a later requirement will be.." as if this was a think to do in the future (maybe another contest) or as an option but this is written as a requirement in contest details meaning that it's expected to select a war era at first. Is this correct? So, can we consider the flow as it is written like this begins by selecting a war era? This is a critical point that conditions next flow and should be well understood...

Thanks in advance

My thinking was that for the wireframes, I wouldn't expect you to know what codes pertain to which war era. But we do need to start the flow with the selection of a war era.

Does that make sense? The "later requirement" will be related to knowing which codes to pre-populate, etc.

yes, understood

thanks!

Had a question regarding population configuration, when a user configures a population - do they select number of people to include in their data set or the areas/locations to include in their data set?
Re: Forum "VA PseudoVet - Wireframe Componentes Challenge" has been updated by mishql (response to post by mishql) | Reply
They select the size of the population, but geography will be randomized.

I have a questions:
According to the second sentence of the Challenge Summary - this system creates and updates realistic and dynamic synthetic patient data.
So should we include work flows for updating the data set? Or is that out of the scope of this challenge?

Probably bad wording on our part. The "updating" is actually the system
aging the data as appropriate.

For example, if you create a dataset that spans 50 years, the system will
generate 50 years worth of doctor checkups, desiese profiles, etc.
Re: Forum (response to post by dweaver) | Reply
Thank you for clarifying this!

However, would there be some mechanism for users to update their data set?
For example, if an app developer had a data set from PseudoVet for an early phase of app development, and requires a data set with larger population size for next development phase, would he be able to update his existing data set, or should he create a new data set?

Excellent question. For now let's assume this will be one-time generation.
This will avoid the complexities of trying to update/maintain data.

Population Configuration
This area will allow a user to configure several parameters to influence the generated data.

- Number of patients
Determines the base number of patients generated.

It is mentioned that there are several parameters that can be configured. Is there any other configuration for population other than the number of patients ? If so what are they ?
Re: Forum (response to post by picachui) | Reply
1. - End Date
Defaults to the current date. Used with the start date to determine patient age window.

'Start Date' is a date for data generation wherein records created earlier to it are not to be considered. So, basically it is a date of a record creation but not any birth date of the person in the record. Then, how can we say that a period window created using any such 'Start Date' and 'End Date' will also amount to the patient age window?

2. When a start date is populated on the basis of a selected war era, then which among the following is expected as a start date: Date when war era started or the date of the first record belonging to such war era?
If it is supposed to be the date of the first record belonging to a selected war era, then how would we know such date for all war eras?

3. Finally, Can you please provide any authentic source to understand different war eras. Can the link I am mentioning here be referred https://www.benefits.va.gov/pension/wartimeperiod.asp ?

Thanks!

Answers below:

1. The start date will determine the War Eras that are included. When
the system generates data, it will look to a "war era config" file to
figure out how to profile the data. By default, that start date will be a
single selected war era and the end date will be "today". This will
determine how old the population is based on some data in the "war era
config" file.
2. The start date will be the first official date of the war:

3. Here is a document with official war eras:

Just the number of patients, start date, end date, and war era.

The start and end dates are driven by the war era selection, but could be
over-ridden

Once the configuration is done, what would be the output? Will the data be generated and stored in a database ? What does the user see on submitting the data configuration request ?
Re: Forum "VA PseudoVet - Wireframe Componentes Challenge" has been updated by picachui (response to post by picachui) | Reply
The output will be a collection of files stored locally.

The generation could take some time, so a screen to help the user
understand this would be needed.
