Actually pick up the phone/write the letter. I'm always telling myself I can wait one more day until it's too late.

Bug or not? Olexiy, your picture on the forums seems to be different from the picture in your profile.

Olexiy posted about that in the Bugs forum here:

When I've looked for jobs, one of the hardest things I've found is convincing employers to give you a chance even if you don't have experience with the specific technology they are using. My resume is not full of buzzword bingo, and so I almost never match the specific requirements they are looking for. When I've submitted resumes anyway, at least online, I usually wouldn't hear anything back (which is also one of the hardest things), so I don't even know for sure why they didn't give me a chance.

Finding a company which allows what you want to do :-)

arunprakashb - I like your quote.

I tend to put on my resume every technology/language/buzzword I've ever touched.

When asked about things in an interview, I never overrepresent my experience. I think it's more or less expected (on the resume), since many recruiters just match on keywords. (Sadly)

I guess I've been lucky in my employment history that I've been able to apply many technologies. Working for small companies can have that benefit.

I've been fortunate recently in finding a recruiter and employer that is vastly more interested in how their candidates think and learn and solve problems.

They're few and far between, but they're out there.

Oh - and the recruiter? TopCoder (Thanks again!)
